First, let me thank all those who came up with good suggestions.
I always make it a point to burp my shaft seal at the start of each
season. This year the yard forgot to paint the shaft and prop before
launch and had to pull the boat mid-season for cleaning and painting.
I didn’t burp the shaft after they did the short haul.
Once I burped the shaft seal the squeek went away and in addition I
gained additional rpm and boat speed. Everything is running like a
champ.

Hi Jay,
This is my first year with an F35 and I have no experience with
dripless stuffing boxes. Can you provide any details on the procedure
for “burping” the shaft seal?
Regards,
Paul

If you’re in the north in the winter
also burp it when the boat is hauled. Otherwise the water could freeze and
expand.

The above link is to PYI’s web site. They have PDF format manuals for
the PSS and Max prop also. Note that the new version of the PSS has a
built in air bleed tube so be aware that newer ones will have this
hose attached and no “burping” is necessary.
Just for sake of disclosure, I do have a commercial relationship with
PYI although this is a non commercial post for information only.

Do all F35’s have the PYI PSS Shaft Seal? Because the dripless
stuffing box on my F35 does not look like the one pictured in the PYI
manual.
The PYI Shaft Seal has an accordion shaped rubber shaft cover that
connects to the shaft log. They call it a “bellow”. My F35 has a
traditional straight and rigid stuffing box hose. My understanding of
the burping procedure is to push the bellow aft until water squirts out
of the shaft. You could not do this with the hose on my F35. It must
be a different make…
