I’ve got a boat under contract. Providing it passes survey which it
should, I’ll be looking for a cheap slip in Socal where I can get the
boat ready for the trek up the coast to San Francisco.
Everything down there seems pretty pricy. Are there any marinas that
can offer a slip for 6-7 per foot or less? I don’t need much in the
way of services. I can get by without electricity and water. Water
can go in jerry cans and I can keep the batteries topped with solar.
Just need a cheap place where I can do some work.

Dave,
There is a place way up the L.A. Harbor main channel in Wilmington - up toward the “Chowder Barge” diner. I wouldn’t call it a “marina”. It’s floating docks without power or water. I hear it’s cheap, and I see a lot of “project” boats being worked on there. There is a chandlery close by. If you want more info, I’ll contact a friend who is a liveaboard in that area.
