Re: Camber Spar Help

And where would I find this “Dave Beirig?”

I love the camber spar, that is, until it froze.

If you have any info on where to find him that would be great! Thanks.

I have not solved my problem with my Camberspar for my Freedom 32. I
wrote earlier, removed it. Still not budging/

The fore end of it does not pivot…the metal piece is stuck, does
not rotate inside of the plastic housing.

It will not budge.

There are loads of pictures and drawings of the aft end of the Camber
Spar but not one on the inner workings of the fore end. Loads of
picutres of the wheel and how to attach the sleeve, but nothing for
what to do when the whole assembly does not pivot inside the tube.

I drilled the rivot on the side and pulled it half way out (lots of
effort there…it would not even turn with a wrench.

Now it will come no further out!

Help?

Anyone take one of these apart? Replacement parts would be helpful
as well…any ideas?

David Bierig is the inventor and supplier of choice for parts. Might give him a ring… Very good fellow, very fast and fair with parts…and makes very good and well priced sails. We are still using one of his jibs…20 years and running. Whole new set for our Freedom 30 was less than $3,500 main and jib.FargoF30#12jsforgey <jsforgey@…> wrote: I have not solved my problem with my Camberspar for my Freedom 32. Try 814-459-8001 and see if that works.
He does not have a website or email.

I spoke with Dave Bereig last night. He said it must have salt dried
in it, suggested putting it in boiling water, putting boiling water
down the aft end. He had no schematics or diagrams for the fore end
of the pole.

Otherwise, buy a new one for $300…which he has in stock.

He was really great.— In freedomyachts2003@yahoogroups.com, Fargo

I don’t know if Dave has email. I spoke with him on the phone. I’ll be
glad to call him for you and save you the charges. His address, I
believe: Dave Bierig, Bierig Sailmakers, 11092 Freeport Lane, North East,
PA 16428. Phone: 814-459-8001
Hope you’re still enjoying your Mull 32. We had a great summer of
sailing with our Hoyt 32 in Maine. If you ever venture west over the pond,
please let me know. I’ll show you around midcoast Maine.
If you want me to call Dave, just email me directly and let me
know what your needs are.
Best,
