Does anyone know of reliable captains/mates that will bring a boat from Florida to the Cheaspeake Bay?-----Original Message-----From: willie doyle To: freedomyachts2003@ yahoogroups. comSent: Wed, 23 May 2007 12:06 amSubject: Re: [freedomyachts2003] Freedom 35 owner needs advice

Dear Lou, You’ve got yourself one sweet boat. We bought ours - 10 years old - in RI last summer and brought her down to her new home in St. Petersburg FL this past fall. The previous correspondent (Jay?) gave you some really good advice on traveller use. Our boat has the jib lead to tracks - not our idea but - as former racers - very much to our liking. The jib sets much better than if it were self tacking and we really don’t relish the idea of a camber spar getting in the way when we are trying to anchor. But…that said, one of the reasons we b ought a Freedom was looking down the years to being able to sail when we are in our 70s (we are in our early 60s now). We’ll probably put the self tacking mechanics back in place so that we can sail easily. Currently it’s just a crank or two to tack with the track system. We had a Pearson 36 for 15 years and loved it (gave it up to get shallo draft for FL waters) and our Freedom has it all over
her in terms of comfort, easy of handling and qualtiy. We have a spinakker, which we really like for downwind runs. Consider that.
