I use a squirt bottle as I said 3/4 water 1/4 vinegar …If I have dish water( I like a big bowl in the kitch sink) i sometimes toss that water in the head…At the Marina we have free pump out…they do it for us…but rem I pay $108.00 per mo, for that, cable tv,internet on boat, water, and the pool, club house, restaurant etc…

I pump my head handle on close, with that sea cock closed…

Would still like discussion on the drill or winch…with the drill I would need a generator?

Sward how do you like the drill?

Who all uses the drill? Let me know

Thanks,

Yes a cup of vinegar a week is the way to go. What are you using instead of seawater by the way???

I do and I have never been happier, easy
to use, holds a good charge, takes the main up as if it weighted a ounce, and
only cost me $279 on sale last year!

Drill for the winch--------- yea it is the bomb- Here are two web sites that sell them- just for sailing- there is also some one out there that makes a bit to fit in your own cordless - I can’t seem to find them-
www.moreaintl.comwww.maniwell.comI guest you could take an old winch handle to a machine shop and have them adapt it I was wondering if any of you with the sleeve type sails could talk a little bit about reefing with a sail that is wrapped around the mast?

Those
electric winches cost as much as a small boat. Here’s a site that
sells bits to fit the Milwaukee battery powered right angle drill:

“Winch Bit converts allself-tailing manualwinches to Electricwinches for theunbelievable priceof $44.95”
My gawd what an unbelievable price!
I am lucky! I can turn out one of those for much less.
I’ll just use a piece of square 420 stainless tool stock, grind it to fit my winch
and machine the shank on my lathe,
then grind 3 sides flat on the shank.
a squared bit will work just fine, really no need for the 8 point bit.
…now taking orders for these bits at 20 bucks apiece plus shipping— On Thu, 9/25/08, Al Lorman <ajl@…> wrote:
