Does anyone have any recommendations on a loose footed mainsail
verse a wedge foot mainsail?

I presume you are talking about a Freedom 21 or 25 without withbone
rig. You want a loose footmain to optimize sail shape as you need
all the power up wind. You could put in a flattening reef for heavy
wind conditions (short of needing a proper reef). If you have a
Freedom 25 and are going for a new main have it made with 300sq ft
(maximum for the design but standard was 260) then make the first
reef at 260 sq feet. This will be needed when beating in 12kts of
wind or more. Best of luck.

It was actually for a F30 and I went with a loose foot. Should
arrive tomorrow!
