Sourcing parts

Posted by Art Quade (aquade@…>)

I have been watching and reading some of the poastings in this group
and it never occured to me that I toss out this info untill now. For
those of us that like to do “stuff” on our own, there is a company
called Mcmaster-Carr, http://www.mcmaster.com/ ,that is an MRO supply
company to industry. They carry anything and everything that we may
happen to need in the way of clevis pins, shackles, rigging hardware
and supplies at a lesser price than say a West Marine or the like. The
web site can be overwhelming, but the catalog is fun to page through.

Take a look.

There is a bit of good info in Don Casey’s Good Old Boat book on fabricating your own rigging. Over the years, I’ve obtained plumbing material for builge pump,
potable water, fuel line, stantion parts, raw material for machining
parts, you name it. It’s the next best thing to your best local
hardware store if you have a day or two to wait.

The web site is good, but I suggest anyone who is interested, to get
the hard catalog as well. Nothing beats flipping throught the pages
with the mind turning and pencil in hand.

Winter has finally arrived!!!

Art,

Thanks for the website. I found specific stair
treads, ductwork, and scaffolding I could not find elsewhere at what seem like
reasonable prices.
