Spinnaker use in the Caribbean

Posted by john reed (john-reed@…>)

We’re planning on taking our F32 to the Caribbean for the rest of our
natural days in a few years. I’ve used the gun mount spinnaker in New
England water and, if we were planning on remaining here, I’d leave it
alone. Since the winds in the Caribbean are more regular than up here and
appear to be stronger I now doubt the need for this sail and all of the rest
of the gear that goes with it. Since experience normally trumps conjecture,
I’m asking the group at large to advise me: is the spinnaker system worth
the weight, space and tackle in the Caribbean?

Thanks

YOU BET.

Take it with you. The speed is worth the weight, espcially when dodging weather. Rig the spinnaker in a bag on the pole and it is little problem in the boat.

We love ours
