I will be stripping off the old bottom paint and applying a barrier
coat and fresh bottom paint before launching in the spring.
Looking for any recommendations, suggestions,…. on your experience:
What kind of sander & grit (I don’t think my 5" orbital would be
up to the task and a 4.5" mini grinder seems to be too aggressive
Chemical stripper (I’ve been looking at the Ready Strip Marine)
Thanks
Mike

I saw a good review of strippers in Practical Sailor, it was one of the top
names available at West but I forget which one. One fellow in our yard
tried it without much success however the daily temperature was in 50’s and
low 60’s and as I recall the manufacturer wanted minimum closer to 70.
I tried sanding a 21 ft boat, like a J-22, but it was very messy and very
slow. I ended up having the bottom blasted with baking soda then did the
final sanding (80,120, 150 grits)and fairing myself. I finished with
Interlux 2000 and so far so good. The IP 2000 went on easy with a roller.
Interlux has a good web site. Remember everything is in the preparation.
