Does the F-25 have a boom vang? If so, where does it attach to the boom and
mast?

The F25 needs the vang for safety, among many other reasons. The vang
attaches to a bail on the bottom of the boom, and an eye on the deck,
just aft of the mast

In heavy weather, and broad reaching or running, the F-25 will roll
to the point where the boom will hit the water. Herm

My F25 came with what appears to be a boomkicker to keep the boom up without a
topping
lift. But it didn’t come with a vang. I’d like to put one in. There are two
bails beneath the
boom. The aft one is for the mainsheet. I assume the forward one is for the
vang. But what
kind of purchase do I need? Would two blocks do it? I guess what I’m asking is
how to set a
vang up for this boat.

Do you know the purchase combination to make one up? Is it sufficient to use a
single
block with a becket and a double? Or do I need a double and triple?

The vang on my F25 hass a 4:1 purchase. It has 2 large Harken fiddle
blocks. Both have snap shackles for attachment. One fiddle is a
ratchet, with cam. 4:1 is barely enough purchase to adjust under a
load, but the Harken catalog shows how to add another block on a wire
to double the purchase. I intend to do this in the near future. You
can learn a lot about rigging from the Harken catalog. Good luck.
Charlie. PS you do need a vang for safety, to keep the boom end from
flying up, especially on a jibe when it will rise, and then slam
down. If you do not have a vang, you can just tie a strong line to
the bail and the eye to keep the boom from rising, until you get an
adjustable vang.
