When I first got my F36 about 5 years ago there was a lot of
discussion on making an adapter so you could use an electric drill to
drive your winch. I had one made by a local machine shop and used it
with a Craftsman 24 volt drill. Very successful. This fall my boat
was broken into and of course the drill was stolen with the adapter.
There was talk of a commercially available piece- does anyone know
where I can get one? The problem is most shops don’t like small jobs-
I was lucky to find a shop owned by a Coast Guard Auxilliary member
but I don’t believe he is in business any longer. Any help
appreciated. Happy New Year to all.

The “Sailing Gear” section of eBay consistantly 2 guys selling them.
One is a square shape one for $20-ish dollars and another with an 8
point “star” shape for $40-ish dollars.

Anyone using a battery powered drill for raising sails might want to
look at my previous input #7726 in which I descibe my hard wired
solution to batteries.
Also, note that Australian Yacht Winch P/L at winches@…
has or can make all parts for any Barient or Barlow winch.
I bought my winch bit on ebay, and it was cheaper than my previous one
which had been made locally. For what it is worth, I went the whole hog
and bought the new Milwaukee 28 volt right angle cordless with (and
this is the big plus) a Lithium Ion battery. There is no problem with
needing to run it down before recharging nor over-charging. Pricy, I
admit, but well worth it at my age.
