A couple of years ago I had a machine shop fabricate one out of
stainless for me- I took in a square drive winch handle I had and
the drill that was to drive it. They copied the square drive and put
a 1/2" drive on it for my drill and put three flats on the drive so
that the drill would not slip. It worked fine. They charge me $25.
At that time I had offered other Freedom owners the opportunity to
get those at that cost. I haven’t been there in a while, but any
good machine shop can do that. The square drive winch handle is easy
to duplicate, more so than a “star” pattern of 8 points. It helps if
the machine shop owner is a Power Squadron member but not necessary.
As someone else pointed out there may be commercial outfits doing
this already.
