On most of my boats I have had a windlass (well strictly
speaking a capstan). Has anyone done this with the Hoyt Freedom 32? I realize
it is a little on the smaller side but I have found them very useful, especially
in a blow or difficult holding. Makes and models appreciated. Obviously a low
profile would be best. Thanks

I have a Sprint/Lewmar 1000 anchor windlass on my 32 however, I would not get the same type again. I’ve had trouble with it many times. My friend has a Maxwell and if I had to switch out I would go with that one. I don’t know-I didn’t look into it that far for my boat as I am going to be able to repair my Lewmar. I saw it installed in his boat-a Morgan 382. He had the motor fiberglassed in and covered with teak in his V-berth. He also had the yard reinforce the deck under it. I just liked how it worked and he liked it.
