Wood finish in the Freedom 40 Cat Ketch

I searched the archive but can’t find an old post about the teak finish
on the F-40 CK. Does anybody know what was used on the teak? I want to
refresh the work in the head.

From earlier posts and discussions with Paul Dennis at Warren River Boat
Works, the Watco finish, a natural colored oil, was used on the ash
ceiling battens on many of the Freedom’s. Watco comes in a variety of
colors, it is the natural finish that was used. I am not sure they used
the Watco on the teak, you may want to check that.

Any well equipped hardware store. Comes in pint cans, clear and dark. It is
,in essence,a non gloss oil finish.

Teak oil was great in the old days, but technology has come a long
way. Treat your Freedom interior like fine furniture. Use “Doosy
Furniture Cleaner” and “Doosy” Furniture Polish. Available at most
hardware stores.
