XM Radio

Just a note, I installed a SkyFi XM radio on my boat. Its a
subscription service but the receiver can be removed and used at home
or in the car. Don’t need to keep running below to change out CDs and
definately adds a cool factor to the boat’s audio system.

I’ve been thinking of adding XM or Serius on my 35 Freedom. Can you tell me
what you needed to do to install the antenna? Can it be placed below, or
does it need to be installed externally.

Good Day,

We cruised for a couple years with the Sirius system and found it
worked great. When we looked at XM and Sirius, we went with Sirius
for the following reason …

  1. Sirius had a real marine antenna made by Shakespeare … kind of
a mushroom deal a bit bigger than a GPS antenna, but not much.

  2. Sirius had 3 satellites - XM had 2 (at the time) Sirius would
give us coverage in the Bahamas.

  3. We got a package deal at the boat show from West that gave us a
free antenna - it was just introduced about 2 and a half years ago.

I feel the outside antenna will work much better … ours has been
perfect.

Good luck and enjoy
