Yanmar Operator''s Manual

Posted by Al Lorman (ajlorman@…>)
Two items:

My newly acquired F-30 came with just about every piece of original documentation except for the operator’s manual for the Yanmar 2GM20F. Could I beg and plead to have someone make a photocopy of theirs at my expense?

Has anyone relocated the exhaust flange on the stern? I noted that when the boat is under power, the stern digs down enough to half-submerge the exhaust flange, which I understand creates back pressure on the engine?

Many thanks.

Al,
you can buy a manual from Yanmar, which I did when I bought my F30.
Try Torresen Marine, which is also a good online source of spare
parts.
I have relocated the exhaust to the starboard side, about a foot
above the waterline. Works fine there, and pretty easy to do. I did
so because I added the sugar-scoop stern.

Al-
In addition to Torresen Marine, you can also get a manual from Mack Boring at
mackboring.com. In addition to the operator’s manual, I’d highly recommend the
Yanmar
Service Manual and a parts catalog for the 2GM20F. The drawings are excellent
and
virtually every part of the engine is diagramed and parts listed- makes
communication
with the parts counter easy. Mack Boring also puts on a one day diesel
maintenance course
and a two day hands on course. I have no affiliation but just completed both
courses and
would highly recommend them.

Congrats on your acquisition.

Thanks, Brien. Good advice, but this is why sailing is expensive. I start out looking for one book and end up needing three!
