Sorry guys, I was in a relly pissy mood when I responded to those
comments accusing me of being an elitist snob. Anyone who knows me

am biased towards the ketches because I like the superior reaching
and running performance combined with all the different sail
combinations.
I’m disppointed that Freedom has become a powerboat builder almost
xclusively but understand their reasoning.

FYI - I’m a former F-39 owner. Secondly you’re way the hell too
sensitive. Thirdly you don’t even have a clue what I’m referring
to.
Freedom is now primarily a powerboat builder. Unless you have a
Legacy powerboat you shouldn’t be offended. If you do have a
Legacy
powerboat you’re on the wrong list.

I think you’ll want to use rivets and track. Avoid use of 5200
at
all costs. You’ll destroy the mast of you ever have to remove a
section of track. Your best bet is to contact Freedom Yachts
directly. They still have a few “old timers” around from the
days
when they built real Freedoms.
Congrats on your purchase. Best of luck with the project.

That would be me. It had sat in Lake Union for 3-4 yrs not

change
the
sails to a conventional boom and track in a Sidney, BC yard.
Any
ideas and/or thoughts on the process. Does a 1981 F-33 mast
have
enough thickness to screw in a track or do you have to use
rivets
and 5200. Also, what about the boom connection. Can one
shorten
the boom or use the same length as the wishbone. So many
questions… I am new to the list so thanks for the
opportunity
to
reply

I was too late. There was an ad for a F-33 with a 206 area
