Looking to buy Freedom 40/40

Post by TonyB »

Hello folks,
I am new to the forum, so hello everyone!
I am looking at a Freedom 40/40 for sale in San Diego by the name of Circe. I am wondering if anyone has any info on her? Any particular problem areas I should look at when evaluating a Freedom 40/40? Also does anyone know of a good surveyor in San Diego, particularly one who is familiar with Freedoms?

Regards,
Tony

I would look carefully at moisture intrusion to the balsa core, especially around all through hulls and life line stations, as well as every other penetration. A 40/40 in Connecticut sold last summer at a very steep discount to offset $40K worth of work for hull repair because of this issue. Caveat Emptor

Thanks Parcal. Yeah I assumed with the balsa core I would have the surveyor pay particular attention to moisture intrusion.

Hey Parcal,
Was that the one in Stoneington? (or Rhode Island close by?)
Do you know what it sold for?
