How do I save a draft of a posting?

Post by dwight »

In writing a post, I tried to save it as a draft using the save button at the bottom of the page. Where'd it go? I can't seem to find my way back to it.

Any suggestions?

When you've saved a draft of a post, all that you do is to click "load" when you're in the post/reply screen and pick a saved draft.

For example, I saved this reply and then re-read your question and clicked "reply." When the "post a reply" screen came up, I clicked on "load" (next to "save") and near the top of the screen you'll see a list of drafts that you've saved. Click "load draft" to the right of the title that you want reloaded. I think that it deletes anything that you've already typed, so be careful.

Alternatively, if you know in advance that your posting won't be completed in a single typing session, you can compose it in "Notepad" or Microsoft WordPad (more features) any other text editor, save that file on your computer, and then paste it into the post when you have it complete. This is way faster than opening Word to save the text.

You can also copy or cut & paste any text you've typed into the "post in progress" into Notepad, then cancel that post and return later and paste it back in and complete the post.

I guess that did not do something quite right yesterday. The process seemed to proceed exactly the same, except today I received the message "draft successfully saved". Not knowing to look for this acknowledgement yesterday I assumed that the draft had been saved. Without a draft on file, the "load" button is not visible.

Now I have a couple of saved drafts that "will be deleted after submitting this post." I am editing one of these drafts for this post so I will see if it is removed from the list.

Thanks
