HEAVE TO

Post by Zengirl2 »

Have you done this in a Freedom 32. Can you explain steps needed to practice this maneuver?

If you put F32 Gale into search, you will see Dale Tournier's description of what he did with his F32 heaving to.

I have had success testing this on my Hoyt 32. I simply tied the camberspar clew end to the toe rail with some spare line when on a given tac, then came about to back wind it. The boat settled in quite well after a bit of trial and error. It would not be very difficult to rig some blocks and line to make this doable from the cock pit.
