SS Marine hot water heater

Post by Diiver22 »

I have a Freedom 45 Aft cockpit with a 12 gallon, 1Kw hot SS Marine water heater. There is no model number on the plate. I cannot find a website for SS Marine.
I need a replacement element.
Does anyone know where I can buy one?

Remove the old one, measure the thread size, the length of the element, and the wattage. When it was running, how many amps did it draw? Multiply that by 120 to come up with the wattage. Look online for a water heater element that meets these specs.

Thanks Geoff,
I know is 1000 watts. It has 110 V to the heater, it is not drawing and amps.

Looks like I’ll need to pull the element out to try and match it up

Thanks

The electric hot water heater elements that I have seen in boats are the same standardized ones used in homes. Remove it and take it to a hardware or home improvement store to see if you can match it up and save yourself some money rather than purchasing one at a marine store.
