Pedrick F35 Autopilot

Post by Haetwen »

I sail a Pedrick F35 in San Francisco Bay. I acquired FREYR last year and sailed her from San Diego to San Francisco.
I would like to install a below-deck autopilot such as the Raymarine SPX-10 with a Type 1 linear drive. Does anyone
have advice for how to install a bracket for the base of the linear drive? Where should the bracket be glassed-in on
the hull? Does anyone have photographs of a successful below-deck autopilot installation?

I do not know how the F-35 steering is arranged, but for what it is worth:

My F-30 with Edson radial drive has the wood block mount for the linear drive glassed on to the stern at the appropriate height and distance from the tiller connection. The linear drive is mounted horizontally out from the stern.

(No pictures, the boat is 175 miles away.)

Check with Paul Dennis at Warren River Boatworks. He had a mount for the linerdrive my F36/38 years ago. Also, turned down a rudder stop that mounted over the existing rudder stop. That is the right distance from the rudder stock. Been on the boat for more than ten years. Works great.

I concur with the comment to contact Paul Dennis. He did mine and it works flawlessly. Here are a couple of pics of the completed install.

Thank you for the very helpful advice. The photographs are excellent and a big help in visualizing the installation.
The ram appears to have been through-bolted through the transom. Do I have that right?

Best regards,
