My replacement swim platform arrived today. The old one, made of teak, had gotten considerably thin, so I had this one made of FlexiTeek, which is a synthetic material which will get glued down. I personally think that it looks quite nice and should last a long time.
I can see that one of the corners is off a little bit, but I can assure you that I won't be sitting there staring at it in normal use with the same intensity I'm looking at it now.
I had it fabricated by Northeast Marine Solutions, who was easy to deal with. Most of the other places that I tried to deal with didn't respond to my requests for quotes.

Looks great in the photo. I've a Freedom 35 and have tried sanding the strips but without great success. Ballpark replacement cost?

Are you happy so far going with Flexiteek?
I am considering putting Flexiteek on my side decks, since the 40 years old non skid is starting to desintegrate.
Has anyone more feedback on using teak alternatives on their yachts?
Best regards
Manuel

Re: FlexiTeek replacement swim platform
I put flexiteek in the cockpit sole and seating on my prior F-33. Was very happy with it and held up well. Only 2 comments are:
1. Its warmer in the sun then a light color (doesn't matter when using cushions on it.
2. The installation can result in some bubbles/unevenness. We had an installer do it that had done a few but probably not so many. Did a good job but with a few spots that weren't perfect. Depends how picky you are but definitely want to do it right. I dont know if I had done it myself I might have taken more time and got it perfect or maybe it really takes experience and it would have been a mess.

Re: FlexiTeek replacement swim platform
In the Caribbean we have found it to be very hot to walk on. Much hotter than traditional teak. And whatever you do, make sure that you use the recommended adhesive!

Thanks for your replies.
Hot weather won't be too much of a problem, since the boat probably will never leave lake constance. And I plan to let a professional install it. There are a few around with a lot of experience.
There are some other things on the "to buy" list first though.
So let's see when i can get to this project.
