F30 Bottom Paint Estimate

Post by MarcHudgins »

I need to get bottom paint and I was wondering if anyone had a good number of how much it might take to do the bottom of an F30.

1.5 Gallons. Might use the extra half for another coat especially on the waterline and rudder.

Defender has a nifty paint calculator that includes coverage by paint brands.

I am guessing this is somewhat dependent on the paint, surface and the kind of rollers used. I recently painted my 28' and it took one gallon of Iterlux ACT, with a little leftover to do my 8' dinghy as well.

300-400 sqft per gallon. Depends on application method.

Spraying in the wind - paint doesn't go as far....

I just did my bottom on my F35 (P) - I used a calculator I found online based on length and beam - it was right on - I used 2 coats of Pettit Trinidad HD - used a little more than 3/4 g per coat. Yours is probably .7 g per coat I think. ( don’t know where the calculator is !)
