Hatch Solar Vent

Post by philipl »

I have an ICP SolarVENT installed on main cabin hatch that is no longer working. It has a 5 inch opening. This model is no longer available. All the newer solar vents fit a 3 or 4 inch opening. Is there anything available to slot into my 5 inch opening or perhaps one that comes with an adaptor. Looking for an easy solution.

Hi Philipl, I don't know if this is the same reason yours has failed, but a bunch of years ago mine did too. I found that the rechargable battery within completely died (probably shorted) and even in bright sunlight the fan would not spin at all with the battery installed, the vent seemed completely dead. I happened to have a rechargable AA battery on hand so I swapped it out, wala, fan started working again. Give it a try if you haven't already, check the battery size first of course.

Unfortunately the electronics were also corroded.

Still looking for a 5 inch alternative.

Do an Amazon search.. Many of the Chinese ones have 5 inch holes.
