I finally got around to adding the windlass, purchased a Lumar Pro Fish 700 which will mount forward of the mast. I intend to mount the battery under the V birth with associated components . Will check out a remote control. I will also retain the original 25' of 3/8 chain and 225' of 5/8 line for heavy duty service if needed.
Regards

Hello:

On our 1987 F30, just posting to let folks know we just completed an installation of a Lewmar V700 together with the up/down rocker switch at the helm, and a Lewmar wired remote mounted in the anchor locker. Overall it worked out really well (surprisingly well, actually!).

We removed the port side hawse pipe and turned the bow cleat 90-degrees (sideways) to free up enough room. We bought a 3/4" thick 9"X12" piece of starboard to cover the extra part of the hawse pipe hole and to strengthen the deck for holding the windlass in place.

We mounted the circuit breaker and solenoid on the wall between the anchor locker and the v-berth. The circuit breaker switch is on the outside of the wall, and the solenoid is on the inside, along with Blue Sea Systems Power Posts for terminal blocks. We also mounted the wired remote control plug inside the anchor locker and we pull the remote control through the starboard hawse pipe to operate it.

We installed a Perko battery switch below the nav station next to the existing starter-battery switch. We installed the up/down rocker switch on the helm, running the wiring all the way to the stern and then up through the binnacle.

We installed a new Rocna 15 anchor (33 lbs) with lewmar swivel and combo 1/4" chain and rope rode.

Everything looks and works great. It's amazing!
