Does anyone know the sail area of the f36/38 mainsail? I've been getting quotes for a new mainsail and the sail area varies greatly.
Thanks

Have you looked at sailboatdata.com

Freedom 36 in above url show total sail area at 685.00
Freedom 38 in above url show total sail area 572.00

Seems about right as the foretriangle is small

Mack sails built us a new main on the Pedrick 35 with huge roach main. Came in perfect .

Maybe I have the wrong boats. My bad if I do.

I looked at the sailboat data website and it is very inaccurate. The posted sail areas are calculated from P and E dimensions without considering the huge roach our mainsail have. Their mainsail area is posted as 377 sq ft! My all my quotes have mainsail areas that range from 475 to 575.

That's fantastic - thanks. I did not have the info in my documentation on the boat. Of course the next question is - should I increase the mainsail area? I sail on Long Island Sound so I typically have light wind and I'd like more horsepower. If I go with a squaretop sail there is a 100 sq ft variation in sail designs. Has anyone pushed the limit with mainsail size and are you happy with it?
Thanks again,
