Has anyone modified the traveler on a 1983 33 Cat Ketch. Mine is only set up for a 2:1 advantage It really should be at least a 4:1 ratio. I can't seem to find replacement double blocks for the center and either end. My traveler is curved to match to cabin top. I certainly could purchase a new one but would rather modify the original.
Thanks in advance
Erik

Re: 33 Cat Ketch traveler
We have always found the 2:1 purchase adequate, but we don't usually try to adjust the traveller if the main is sheeted in hard, unless we can briefly luff-up. With the mizzen, we usually pull the traveller across using the sheet above the traveler block in one hand and the traveller control line in the other. I've never seen a 4:1 traveller control setup; a lot more string in the cockpit for only modest benefit, I would have thought.

Re: 33 Cat Ketch traveler
I don't have a 33, but I've upgraded my F21 traveler from 2:1 to 3:1. There's a double block at each end with a single block/becket on the car. If the F33 uses the standard Harken traveler bars as well, I found that EBay had some great deals on parts.

Re: 33 Cat Ketch traveler
Thanks all
I did find two double block for the center and two single blocks with holes in the center to use the original mountings for the outboard ends. Works well in anything but heavy conditions where I need to come up a bit to take some of the load off. I like using the traveler when sailing with main only once I get the main trimmed. I will post a picture when I get the chance.
Thanks again
