F38 Masthead Unit

Post by philipl »

I need to replace the masthead unit on my F38. The shaft securing the topping lift tore threw the back of the masthead. I may be able to rig an alternative topping lift support but would prefer to replace the whole unit. Any thoughts where I can locate one?

I guess an alternative to topping lift is a solid vang. Is a solid vang without a topping lift secure on an F38? This would avoid my need to replace the masthead.

On my F38 I have a rigid boomvang with no toping lift. It works great.

Thank you both. Leaning towards a rigid vang, it also has the benefit of stopping the annoying chafing of the main by the topping lift.
