Looking very smart! How much does the new mizzen weigh?
Hope you cruise goes well.

Hi Gerald
Sorry i didnt see your post. Have been busy!
I didnt weigh them in the end but i did manhandle them into a shed to laminate the last top section. I had to ship it in two parts to make it fit in a shipping container. The local guy in Findhorn who actually worked for a time with the freewind masts company in Inverness did the joining. I have no data but it looks and feels the same as the old one? I still have the old one in two bits. Its possible its a bit lighter.

I have now sailed 2 seasons with it and im happy. Certainly the inbuilt track is much smoother and has reduced the friction when putting sails up. The paint job makes the boat look better too.

How is your boat and hows the season going for you.

All the best

Hi, Andy.

Just seen your post; we got back from Sweden, where Castaway is now laid up, this morning. No more sailing this year!

We did quite a bit of sailing, mostly to windward, this season, and our fairly new sails performed well. We still have the wishbones and wrap around (but zipped) sails, and we have got great control over sail shape, so long as we ease both the halyard and outhaul a little when running or on a broad reach. Fully battened sails must give you better light airs performance, but we had little opportunity for that in the East coast archipelago this summer.

Perhaps we might get to Findhorn and see Saorsa sometime; I'll send a message if the chance arises.

Kind regards,

Gerald
