Digests were not sent

Post by GeoffSchultz »

I just got back from an extended road trip and have spent the last couple of hours trying to figure out why digests weren't being sent. As it turns out, an innocuous change that I made before leaving broke the digests and I couldn't figure it out while on the road. The end result has been that digests haven't gone out for several weeks. So, if you've been relying on the digests to keep you updated on posts in the forum, I suggest that you visit http://www.FreedomYachts.org/ and press the "View Active Topics" button to see what you've missed. Sorry about this.

For the techie: I modified a file to make all references to freedomyachts.org appear as www.freedomyachts.org. Search engines actually consider "http://freedomyachts.org" and "http://www.freedomyachts.org" as different web sites. This potentially divides the website's "power" in half and it's much better to have it be consistent. Thus the change which broke the cron job which sends the digests.

Has anyone else not been receiving digests recently?

I have checked my "junk" folder on my end and don't see them there.

Also tried changing from weekly to daily frequency as a test.

Yes, I told Geoff a few days ago. He said he'd look into it when he has the opportunity.
