For sale is a 1997 freedom 24 with 1996 triad trailer. The hull is white. Lifting keel with winch.
Asking $18,500 obro
Mainsail, Jib, asymmetrical spinnaker on a articulating carbon fiber bowsprit. Main and jib are original and are in good condition for their age. 2 reefing points in the main and full battens. Asymmetrical is not original and is in good shape, it used a dousing sock.
A beautiful tan dodger was added in 2020 or so and really is a nice addition to the boat.
2024 tohatsu 5hp sail pro 25” shaft propane outboard motor included.
Most of the lines were replaced when I got her in 2023.
New porta potty in 2023.
V-berth cushions and cabin cushions are original and in good shape, some small tears here and there. I replaced the v-berth foam in 2023. Cockpit cushions are newer and in great shape.
Currently has an ablative bottom paint on.
The trailer is in ok shape but needs work. New tires in 2019 before being driven from Michigan to Maine and I didn’t have any troubles from Maine to New York in 2023. I rebuilt the supports. I have been using magnetic brake lights from harbor freight. The one axle is a little tweaked and has resulted in some uneven tire wear. The brakes had the lines cut long ago so they don’t work. There is an integrated tongue extender to make launching and retrieving much easier. Currently registered in NY with a plate, would not pass an inspection because of the brakes.
This boat is equiped with a solid mast and not the hinged mast some f24s have. I’ve had the yard step the mast with a crane. You could get creative and build something to step it yourself but it would be tricky given it’s keel stepped. Fresh paint in 2024. The masthead wiring was replaced in 2023 and the anchor light works. The bow and stern light work as well.
For instrumentation there is a compass and depth/ speed indicator.
Original owner had her in Michigan until 2020, then she sailed out of Falmouth Maine for 2 seasons and I picked her up and have had her on Sacandaga Lake in NY since 2023 putting in 20+ sails a season and an overnight or two. Currently in her slip and being sailed this season.
My reason for selling is that I have a 1 year old and carving out the time to use her will only become more difficult in the coming years. She’s in good shape and ready for her next adventure!
