1997 Freedom 40 is for sale

see FB post

I have to ask. What is this hatch in your shower ?? My 40/40 doesnt have this. Shampoo locker ?

Just a porthole

There is one just like it in the aft stateroom

I meant this cabinet door. First time i have seen this in a 40/40
Nice boat btw. I have sailed by her a few times

Exactly. For soap and shampoo. Very handy I love it

I find this site very hard to use hard to edit and post

It does not look like it is viewed very much

Do you like it?

I do but where else will you find all of the other Freedom owners? Its a wealth of information once you figure out the search feature there was a learning curve for me on how to use the features here but it wasn’t that steep.

have you met anyone on the site who is looking for a freedom 40?

what boat do you have and where are you?

I dont know anyone looking but will certainly point them in your direction. I own a dark blue 40/40 named Star Dancer. She was moored in Newport, so you may have seen her out and about. I now keep her in point judith salt pond.

i had an islander 26 that i kept at Ram Point for 32 years
but then my new wife didn’t like the tiller or the 45 minutes to get down the pond so she found a new boat and moved it to Jamestown
i love the freedom but i still miss my islander
were you in the Jamestown yc?

Too funny. ram point is where i have stored all of my boats, but the new Freedom’s winged keel proved too much for Ram Point’s hydraulic trailer. Locke told me that they did not feel comfortable hauling her again so this winter I will have to find a new yard. Its looking like Wickford cove is my best option. Ram point was a 8 minute drive from my house which was an incredible luxury but wickford wont be that bad.
My first boat was a cape dory 27 and there are a few things I miss about her but i sure do enjoy the comfort of the Freedom. The biggest downside to the Freedom that I can come up with is rigging and de rigging the mainsail. That thing is so heavy… but I have figured out how to do it with not too much effort. Sailing the freedom is far easier than any other boat i have ever sailed and I have been sailing my whole life.

yes exactly
after the first yr doing the sails myself i now have doyle sails take them off store them and put them back on
i keep the boat at clark’s in jamestown
he has figured out how to deal with the wing keel
good to know Locke is still there
i knew him in1985 when he was just a kid
we took the boat pretty far up to ME last year
a great trip

where do you live
i used to live on Dockray Rd

What a small world. i live out on Curtis Corner near the horse farm.
