Do any other 40/40 owners have this problem? Im thinking i should just cut it at the kink and add a barbed 90° elbow.

Well yes, but i was just wondering if anyone else has an elbow there and if not, perhaps I should replace the hose. I just ordered an elbow so case closed. ![]()
Is there an anti siphon valve on this? Maybe no need but check the original set up.
Yes there is. Its a few feet downstream in the wet locker. The holding tank’s macerator pump’s outflow also has one and they both meet at a “Y” before going down to the through hull.
If it goes to an anti syphon further on couldnt you just shorten it therefore taking out the kink
I think shortening it will make it want to kink worse. The elbow i add should fix the issue
Well… I learned a valuable lesson today in relation to this topic. Any time you cut into a backwater hose, be sure to flush at least 5 gallons of fresh water through it before you cut it. I figured since the hose was at its highest point before I cut the kink out and install the 90° elbows, I wouldn’t have to worry about it holding any liquid so I did not flush it with fresh water. WRONG ! As I was laying on my back with my head inside my sink cabinet and cutting the hose above my head I was fire hosed by about a half a gallon of what I can only describe as “Festering Hobo Piss”. Absolutely awful. And everywhere. The best part was my wife had taken all of our clothes off the boat the day before and I had no clean clothes to change into. I considered just walking into the marina shower wearing all my clothes but decided to keep working and just complete the job. Also discovered that my duck bills were installed backwards which is why my macerator pump wouldn’t work. Fixed that too. And when you are covered with hobo piss it really doesn’t matter if you get more on you.
Life lessons were learned today but at least now I have a fully functioning head.
