Hey Simon, good luck. I am hoping to align with the current owner on something reasonable. Looks like getting near fair market value isn’t on their radar yet.
I had looked at new engines. Yanmar has the new variant out for around $2300 USD for the engine. This boat was mechanically well maintained so I wasn’t worried about it, yet.
That’s so much cheaper than in the UK!
Good luck with your purchase. They are a wonderful boat. I have my Freedom 30 CK for the last 15 years and have had nothing but joy from her. 14 years ago I sailed her from Ireland ( where I live) to Galicia NW Spain—— wonderful place to keep a boat.
In Galicia I sailed her 90% of the time solo—- no problem. 8 years ago I sailed her down the Portuguese coast, exploring on the way —— eventually to Cádiz in south Spain. Wonderful trip.
Wintered ashore in Algarve, but following year sailed her back to Galicia , and had a Force 10 SW off Portugal ——- no problem to the boat
She is now for sale, ashore in a boatyard for winter.
