Looks great .Just tried mine but been too windy

How do you deal with gusts and what’s the wind limit to fly

Hi Bill, yes it was exciting. We have been building up to flying the spinnaker in ever stronger winds, as our confidence grows. Our anemometer is caput, still get direction but no apparent wind speed. I estimate we were getting 15knts gusting to 20 and it was quite manageable. We haven’t had a full broach yet, although we did stall out the tiller once but managed to recover by backwinding the spinnaker using the reins. I wouldn’t’ go out single handed in a blow and use the spinnaker, as you need hands on rudder and reins. If you are getting overpowered, just head downwind and be ready to drop the spinnaker. The apparent wind drops significantly. I now have a lot of confidence in the boat and soinnaker.

Hope you get some better conditions soon.

Chris

I thought I would post this as a contrast to this last video on spinnaker sailing. A very quiet and surreal day on Derwent Water trying to find wind. Most of the day spent under spinnaker again, sometimes making it upwind by exploiting wind shifts. All in all a very Zen like experience.

By the way does anyone know how to embed a YouTube link to get up the YouTube thumbnail?

Thanks for the video. Really enjoyed you two. Fine business..
