I’m looking for suggestions in having a bimini installed on my F38.
The installation is complicated by a pair of winches mounted on the
top of the cockpit coaming set up for sheeting a cruising spinnaker.
The canvas shop I’m working with suggested a rail mount set up but
I’m reluctant to go that route since it wouldn’t be all that stable.
The coaming mouned bimini hardware would interfere with sheeting. Any
suggestions or pictures of a like set up would be greatly
appreciated.

The bimini on my 36 is mounted just outside the coaming. 3 bow
system with forward attachment to the dodger and optional filler
piece. Aft attachment is to the pushpit rail with SS tubing. It
gives enormous amount of shade and is not in the way at all. Folds
back when not in use in 30 sec. If I
can find a picture, I’ll post it.

I have a rail mounted bimini on my F30. It makes for a very wide bimini, which I like. There are rigid struts from the front and rear of the stern rail to the bimini frame, which helps keep it rigid. The down side to this arrangement is that the bimini frame does not fold down completely; it folds up flat, but upright, over the stern rail. I find it a good trade-off.
