Has anyone replaced the sheaves at the aft end of the F30 boom?
Several of mine, made of plastic, are cracked, but there’s no obvious
way to remove them. Any help would be appreciated.

What year is your boat. Is it a Kenyon boom? Are the end fittings
welded to the boom extrusion or riveted on.? These questions all have
a bearing on cost and difficulty. Believe me, if you answer wrong,
its
gonna be a bitch.

Mine is a 1987. The boom is an Isomat. The end fittings are screwed on. Did I answer correctly?

DING DING DING! WE HAVE A WINNER!
I’m not familliar with Isomat, so I don’t know why there is no
obvious method to remove the sheeves. But, you can remove the end
fittings and either that will expose the axles or you can send them
to Isomat or your rigger for refurbishing.
In my case, I have a Kenyon with welded ends. Kenyon is out of
business. I am at the mercy of Rig Rite Inc. ( a sheave axle costs
$50.00). The only way to remove a frozen axle is to guess at the
location of the opposite end, drill a hole (hope you measured
correctly) and drive it out the same way it went in. Now you have to
patch a hole in your boom.

I’m impressed. I usually don’t win anything! Sorry to hear about your Kenyon boom. I was hoping to get some guidance before I removed the end fittings.

Something just occured to me. On a previous boat I had an Isomat
mast and Boom. The boom end sheaves were ganged 3 across, but were
actually individually axled and were dropped in from the top and
held in place by the line turning around it. Check it out, maybe you
got even luckier.

Actually, looking in from the rear, that’s what I thought might be the case. But I disregarded the thought, since it seemed too easy and thus would not be sufficiently “shippy.”
