Hi All, I work in Marine Salvage and we are breaking up a freedom 30 1990, The masts and wishbones and lots of the others parts like the rudder are in great condition. In case anyone out there is looking for bits for one, The sails are like new also. all the best Tim
Wow, I didn’t know they were making the Freedom 30CK as late as 1990. Must have been one of the last ones. Where is this?
its in the UK south of London, has carbon fibre masts.
hi I’m in California and have a 1987 F30. Do you happen to have the gunmount and pole assembly? and/or the Spinnaker and sock setup? Likely too far away but thought I’d ask thx
Hi Steve. We will back in the yard in a few days and can have a look, Not being the sort of vessel we deal with on a day to day basis, do you have pictures or ideas what it looks and we can have a look, everything was unstepped and transported. all the best Tim
OP is talking about breaking up a UK Freedom 30, which is the same as the US Freedom 28CK. It’s the cat ketch, not the Mull sloop.
Try emailing Paul Dennis, I think he has a complete gunmount setup, though it might be for the 36/38.
Hello,
I have just made an initial enquiry about a Freedom 30 Ketch Monohull South UK.
It appears to have water ingress so may be a no goer (I hope it’s not the same boat) but..
Replacement parts was a big worry, so I was thrilled to see your post.
I am at initial stage of enquiry, do you have a timeline in which you need to offload the items?
Thanks for your post
Louisa
Hi Louisa, this vessel was called Scott Free and is already part dismantled, A lot of the smaller items and electrics have been removed and sold. Just about to start on the engine which is in excellent condition and will be tested palleted and sold. All the Spars have been listed online for sale but the rest will take place over the coming months, however they could take years to sell. The sails are new and the wishbones are good, My father had the freedom 40 bought it back from the USA to Plymouth in the UK. Good boats. This is a link to the Ebay stores we have, however we have containers of stuff not listed yet. Southern Boat Salvage | eBay UK Stores
all the best Tim
Ohh Scott Free is still advertised for Sale, yes it is the Boat I was interested in looking at..
It appeared to have Water ingress on the Starboard Bulkhead, most likely compromised the Ply Core Hull so it may have been too much to repair..
Thanks for letting me know - wish I could find one in good Nick.
You could advertise on the Junk Rigg Website as those individuals convert standard Rigs: a good Carbon Fibre Mast, Wishbone Rig etc could be right of interest to them.
Cheers
Louisa
yes not sure why they have not removed it from the listing, looks like it had some collision damage at some point and water ingress has also caused so much damage, it was on the fringe of us not breaking it, but the client wanted it gone and it was beyond economical repair. Thanks for the info Junk, we are down in poole to collect a blue water ocean yacht for decommissioning.
Steve, where are you in california? I sail my Mull 30 on the delta and SF Bay.
Same here Mike! will be heading over to the delta for Father’s day but usually i’m hanging out in either SF Marina or Angel Island.
