Camberspar bracket on F38

While rigging my F38 for the season, I lost the bracket that goes around the forestay and the end of the camberspar. I tried Bierig Sailmakers but they no longer stock them. Any other fixes if I can’t locate a spare? Does anyone have a spare one , by chance?

Try Paul Dennis yet ?

Wow!! I don’t know how that could possibly happen. One option is that you can hire a diver. There has been one about 10’ down off the bow of my boat for the past 15 years. I got my replacement from Dave Biering.

Seriously, I do have 2 spares in addition to the one I use (carefully) which I could loan to you to use as a template for a machine shop to make one for you if you could get it back to me after you have one made. Unfortunately, they are in my boat an hour and a quarter away and I will not be getting up there for about 2-3 more weeks. I guess I could have my boat yard fetch one out of my boat and have a local machine shop make one and mail it to you before I get up there.

You could see if Biering still has the template somewhere that you may be able to get a local machine shop make one for you. Better make that 2: one for now and one for next year. I was told that he designed the camberspar for Freedom boats, so I would think he might have the drawings still. Another option I can think of is Paul Dennis. I have never met him, but understand he is a great expert. About WRB - Warren River Boatworks, Inc.

Also, try asking Geoff Schultz who set up and still runs the Freedom Forum. He recently put Blue Jacket (his Freedom 40/40) on the market after 30 years with . If he does not know where to find one, no one will.

If nothing else works, get back to me at dordoc456@gmail.com

This or Warren River Boatworks as Pearce noted.

The little hole Is for the lanyard to the stay which those of us who have lost one should have been using… You are heartily welcomed to our August group of Camberspar forestay clip losers… congratulations!

Philip, I know exactly how that happened!!! There’s a hole in it to attach a string even, mine was just a thread and I was thinking to my self “I wonder what this is for…” and ping! A gift to the harbor. Here’ is where I went. Super helpful and a relief to know there’s still resources.
Bill got it right out to me. Make sure you put a string on it.

Paul Dennis at Warren River boat yard has been the source for replacements. Don’t ask how I know that.
