Camberspar luff grommet question

I was taking a good look at my Camberspar jib on my Freedom 36 “CatSloop” and discovered that the camberspar sleeve had two pairs of grommets at the luff end. The camberspar is currently attached to (bolted through) the lower pair of grommets. The second pair of grommets is about three inches above the lower pair.

When would I want to switch and attach the camberspar to the upper pair of grommets? And why?

I’ve never heard of this sort of setup before, which makes me think it’s something a previous owner requested when commissioning a new sail. I can’t imagine that 3 inches would make very much of a difference in performance. Also, the only time I ever want to take apart that assembly is when the sail needs to come off at the end of the season. Changing it underway or in anticipation of a race is just asking to lose a part overboard.
