cell phone coverage in Canada

I will be cruising more to Eastern Maine and Nova Scotia. I have had pretty good coverage “Down East” this year with Verizon and am considering getting a “SmoothTalker cell phone booster to get more range. I also need to get a new cell phone
Has anyone one good or bad experience with cell carriers down east and into Nova Scotia? Any experience with cell phone boosters??

Andy,
The carrier you use will depend somewhat where you reside. I live
in New Harbor, just inshore from Monhegan Island and I use US Cellular with
generally good results, except I got no signal when driving home from
Montreal last fall, until I got close to the US border. US Cellular can
provision the entire state of Maine. However, if you’re Verizon service
works for you, why change? My Nokia phone works well and holds a charge
pretty well. You can pay a fortune for a phone now if you need one with
all the bells and whistles. I have no experience with the booster.
Where are you located? Give me a shout if you’re anywhere near
New Harbor or Pemaquid Harbor and I’ll buy you a beer.
