Clout when dealing with bad products, etc.

Posted by Frank (myslo@…>)

I´ve been going through an extensive renovation process with my
F 33.

Twice I have been short changed now, massively, by companies that
you would think would be above such stuff. As an individual, there is
not much anyone of us can do in such situations. But colletively,
there would be clout.

Question: Is there such an organisation existing? It almost seems a
given.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Some of us are in the process of forming a Freedom Owners Association. You can get info at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FreedomOwnersGroup/ .
Could you provide some info and the companies and problems as a warning for the rest of us?
Thanks

Frank,
try this for starters:

Consumer advocacy is one of the reasons boat us was formed in the
first place.

Lance,

I much appreciate this lead. I certainly will follow it up. And hope, they have not only dispute mediation, but an on- going evaluation of performance of marine related companies.

For example: If the tally on XYC companies showed 30 000 sales that had been reported,
and out of those, 30% were judged by the buyer as unsatisfactory transactions, XYZ would clean up its act immediately, or go out of business.

Seems to me, the responsible, serious segment of the industry would welcome such bird dogging , as it would get the slip-shod outfits out of the competition.

And for us, it would mean, prevention of troubles, rather than trying to resolve it after the fact.lance_ryley <lance_ryley@…> wrote:
