Hello all, since this is already my 2nd (of many) questions I’m
posting I should start by introducing myself and more importantly my
boat (which many of you already know). My name is Rick Higgens and my
wife Jayne and I are proud new owners of F30 #12 which we purchased
from Fargo Rousseau whom I’m sure you all are familiar with from his
participation on this forum. Fargo has done an incredible job
restoring this F30 to tip-top condition while he has been cruising
most of this last year. As evidence of that my surveyor said he had
never been on a 20 year old boat in as good condition during his
career! And Paul Dennis said when he came to look are her (he’s the
next boatyard down from where our boat will spend the winter) that
Fargo had the hull and decks shining better than when it was brand
new! We are truly lucky to follow Fargo as owners of such a great
boat. In the Spring we’ll bring our F30 down to Oriental, NC we have
a lot, and a dock, and that’s all (except now a boat to go on the
dock). Between now and then I’m focusing on getting power and water
out to the end of the dock in time for the “arrival”. So you’ll hear
from me more when I finally get the boat to NC. But I do have a
question for you F30 owners. We pulled the mast so during the winter
Paul can tighten up the step a little, open up the weep hole at the
mast base so it can’t plug up so easily and inspect everything else.
While it’s off he will be installing a combo steaming / deck light
about 12’ up the forward side of the mast. He likes the Forespar ML-2
and I figure he should know what works best. My only concern is
clearance of the jib as it swings and wondered if anyone else has this
type light or similar and what their experience is? I’m also putting
a new OGM LED anchor light with photodiode on the masthead. Figure
it’s a little easier to do on the ground than 50’ in the air. Thanks
for letting me ramble a bit. Since I can’t go and look/touch my boat
for 6 months (yes it’s killing me) I’ll have to rely on you owners for
advice. Looking forward to getting to know you all in the time ahead…

Important question, what is Fargo’s next boat. Sounds like I want to buy it after he improves it.Ed ReissOn 12/4/06, Rick Higgens <
