Like some of you, I use a cordless drill to raise my main. I would
prefer to use the drill in a horizontal position, but to do that one
needs a 90 degree angle adaptor. Both Sears and Vermont American make
such, BUT they will operate only in a clockwise direction—otherwise
they unscrew the chuck.
In order for me to raise my main, I have to use the winch in
the “slow” mode or counter-clock direction, so these angle drive kits
will not work. (Believe me I have tried welding, pinning, and all
sorts of rigs; none will stand the torque.)
Now, Vermont American has come out with a new model (17172) which I
have been told will work in reverse. But being a suspicious type, I
want to see it before I order it. However, Bloomington, Indiana is
not exactly the center of technological choice.
Has anyone of you seen the new model and if so can you confirm that
it will work?

I’m interested in the Milwakee 18 volt right angle drill for my F36. Is there enough torque to crank a 200 pounder to the top of the mast?
