Cross-posting from the other list

This is not my boat (I think two freedoms at once is enough  but
wanted to make sure he got the widest audience:

My wife and I are planning to sell our Freedom 38 at the end of
August. We are currently living aboard her on the beautiful Door
County Peninsula in Wisconsin, cruising the waters of Green Bay and
upper Lake Michigan. Our home is actually in Boulder, Colorado, but
we have fallen in love with this area and have decided to spend our
summers ashore here starting next year.

Anyhow, I thought I would offer an interested party the opportunity
to buy this boat at a fair price through this list, before turning
the boat over to a broker. Here are the details:

She is a 1991 model with a 4’ wing keel and in excellent condition.
White hull, double navy blue cove stripe and navy blue sheer stripe.
She has an excellent navy blue dodger and bimini, with clear zip-in
filler piece for rainy days. She has white cockpit cushions with
blue piping, and navy blue cockpit back cushions with white piping,
which dresses her up nicely–not to mention makes her comfortable.
She has Doyle Stack Pack and Lazy Jacks, and Dolye self tending jib.
(My sails are removed and either cleaned or mended as necessary each
year. My sail maker says they are in good shape and have several
good years left.) She has a Lewmar electric winch (horizontal) with
foot pedals on bow and remote controls from the cockpit. (Winch
smoothly and effortless handles the 200 feet of chain–never a
glitch.) She has two self tailing winches, one of which is a large
Bariant and the other a Lewmar Electric winch. This very expensive
option makes raising the sails embarassingly easy. She has a stern
mounted radar post, a 42" elk covered steering wheel, and Autohelm
speed, wind, and depth mounted at the helm. She also has an Autohelm
ST 6000 auto pilot at the helm, which sails the boat better than I do-
-even wing and wing. She has Frigoboat keel cooled refrigeration,
which is low draw and extremely effective. She has a scandinavian
Varmare Heizgerat diesel heater mounted in the port lazarette which
operates off the boat’s diesel fuel tank. Simply turn a switch in
the galley and hot air flows into the main cabin and aft cabin–very
quiet, simple, and effective. She has a Force Ten 3 burner propane
stove and oven, Raytheon VHF, Raytheon radar, electric bilge pump,
statpower battery charger, and Balmar alternator (both added in about
2001).

We have put over $10,000 of upgrades and new equipment on in last 3
years including the following:

  1. Skanvik Swim platform swim shower
  2. Standard Horizon 175 C chartplotter (mounted at helm)
  3. 5 new (2006) 80 amp batteries which allow us to cruise without
worrying about marinas or shore power. (We NEVER turn off fridge or
    buy ice…ever.)
  4. Custom Ronco 30 gallon holding tank and all new plumbing with best
hoses money could buy. (Paul Dennis got the tank and diagrams for
    this retrofit for us.)
  5. Caribe Dinghy (hypalon) with 17’ tubes and double floor–hardly
    used at all.
  6. Mercury 3.3 outboard–only 3 or 4 tanks of gas ever run through
her so she is like new

All of the work on this boat has been done by professional yards, and
maintenance has been religiously followed. Everything on the boat
works, except a Link 1000 battery monitor which the former owner put
on to monitor battery charge but which made no sense to me and was
really designed for use with invertor, so I just had it disconnected.

Boat will be available after August 22nd, in time for late summer
sailing or delivery. I am asking $119K, but to reach the
widest “audience” I will give a buyer $5000 “credit” for shipping the
boat to the buyers location. If the buyer is in the Great Lakes or
wants to take delivery here and sail her home, I will pay up to $5000
for hauling and storing at the end of this season, so there is no
need to wait me out and hope I drop the price. As I said, if I have
no takers I will give this to a broker at end of August and price
will go up considerably.

If you are interested or know someone who is, call me and we can talk
further.
