Datamarine Masthead Wanted

Hello everyone, my name is Mike I am new to the group and a new owner of a 1990 Freedom F-32. I am in need of a Datamarine LX360Q masthead wind speed/direction transducer. The one I have has a cracked housing and is starting to leak oil. It still works, but would like to have one in good shape and use the leaking one for spare parts. I really do not want to upgrade the electronics as of yet having to do other work to the boat. If anyone has one they would like to part with, please let me know.

Thanks,
Mike

Hello Mike,
Welcome on board. I hope you get many many years pleasure sailing your F32.
I have two of these heads but I have no idea what condition they are in. They both have broken wind wheel. You are welcome to have them if you are interested.

Happy sailing
Jim D

Mike, I’m going to be removing mine sometime in the next month. Haven’t seen it up close yet. It appears to be intact, but doesn’t spin. It’s yours for the price of shipping if you want it. I can send pics once I get it down.

. Thanks for the response guys. I would be interested and very appreciative. PM me with any additional details or pics and I will send you my address. I’m sure I will be able to piece together something from them. Looking forward to getting her fixed up and on the water. Thanks again

You should be able to purchase replacement parts from http://www.dmimarine.com/.

I’ve actually did contact them. I tried to get parts for me to rebuild it but they won’t sell just the parts for the mastheads. With the cracked housing they quoted me about 500 dollars. Didn’t want to spend that much on one right yet. Wanted to wait till I upgraded the electronics in a couple of years.

G’day all…I’m a fellow Freedom owner with aging equipment (boat equipment, that is!) and also in need of a Datamarine 360 masthead transducer for parts…I would happily pay for the shipping in order to get mine working again if one of the three currently offered is still available. I’ve never sailed with wind instruments and wonder how necessary they really are but still it would be cool to see the dial actually doing something. The speed and depth work great!
Really getting itchy…This Friday is launch day way up north here in Ottawa!! WooooHooooooo!!!
Cheers, David

I just returned from picking up a few things at Columbia Marine Exchange (consignment in Portland, OR).

I was not really looking but from memory I think they have a Datamarine L360 masthead wind transducer in a box in their display case. ($100 +/- ???)

I just checked with them and they had a brand new in the box complete Raymarine system with masthead for $1400 but just sold it. I will keep that web address handy as I may find deals from them. Thanks for the info.

Respectfully and in the interest of helping someone that may need an LX-360 transducer unit without starting any flames –

I had occasion to return to Columbia Marine Exchange at noon again today to buy some inflatable floorboards for the plywood.

They indeed do have a Datamarine LX-360 unit for sale at $100 in their case.

Hi ,
I just returned from my boat and found that my masthead unit had been damaged(likely from some large bird like an osprey using it as a perch also!) Thanks to this thread I knew just where to try and locate a new one. Thanks Vivian, I will try that consignment shop you visited, perhaps they still have it and can ship it to me over on this coast.(Greenport,NY) I hope all you others with L360 problems have been able to resolve them., Rick
