Has anyone replaced the bulb or the entire light fixture on the
forespar deck light on a freedom 35? This unit is attached to the
forward part of the mast about 1/3 of the way up the mast. The bulb
doesn’t seem to come out easily and the fixture is rivited to the mast.
I went up yesterday, but it was too windy to stay up very long. Any
advice would be helpful before I go up again to investigate.
Thanks

If it’s the same fixture as my Hoyt32, the bulbs have a tendency to corrode in the socket, and are sometimes very hard to get out. You can spray it with something like WD-40, or some type of “easy-out”, but if you do try to remove it with your fingers, use gloves, the bulbs will break. You may have to resort to using longnose pliers. That will break the bulb, and you can remove the remaining socket. Also before you put the new bulb in, wrap a dowel with 220 sandpaper and polish out the rust and corrosion, spray it with WD-40 (or something?), and away you go.

One other thing, you might want to meter the socket while you’re up there, you wanta make sure that it is really a dead light, right?

Sometimes you can get out a base of a broken bulb by jamming a wine cork in it ,and turning. Boeshield does work, but I’d try silicone caulking the fixture so it wont leak.

Is this Boeshield T9 that you’re referring to? Do they have a website? I’d like to get some spec’s on the product.

Cheap way that works well, is a jar of vaseline, generously lube all your light sockets, shouldn’t have any problems after that.

I use a silicone grease to keep lightbulbs clean and well conducting.
