I have some diesel in my bilge. The tank is full. I can not seem to
find where the leak is. When I pump the bilge out, more diesel is
there later (maybe a 1/8 cup).
I figured I would ask this group, since most problems repeat themselves.
You probably already checked these but I’ve
had leaks from the engine fuel filter assembly, various other spots under the
engine that needed tightening or replacement of gaskets or other components. However
usually this all falls into the drip pan on my F-33 not the bilge. Once had a
leak in my racor that dripped to the bilge.

Hi Ck. around the bottom edge of your tank. I had to replace the tank in my F-32 about a year ago and that took care of the leak. I don’t know if there is anyone selling tanks designed for your boat. On my
last boat the fuel tank leaked and I had a local shop build one. They
fabricated the new tank identical in shape to the old one using the old one
as a pattern and the price was not as bad as I expected. The shop that did
mine was:
Capeway Welding
9 Appollo 11 Road, Plymouth, MA 02360
(508) 747-6666
I Don’t remember the price as it was a few years back.
When you install your new tank make sure that nothing organic or dissimilar
metal touches the tank. That means wood, fabric, carpet (my old tank was
installed using pieces of carpet which held water against the tank causing
the failure) or anything that absorbs water. Use neoprene rubber to isolate
the tank from what’s around it.

Our “new” 1984 F32 that we bought this winter had a gallon in the
bilge. Our new best friend, the mechanic, found that the fittings on
the lines coming to and exiting the the fuel pump were loose and in
bad shape. He replaced one line and tightened the fittings and we’re
good to go.
We also had to thoroughly clean the bilge (all compartments), as the
fuel penetrated the gunk in the bilge and would slowly release a little
every time the gunk got a little wet. Finally, there was an absorbent
roll in the bilge and a pad in the tray under the motor that were
saturated. We have replaced those.
Hope this helps.

I had to replace the fuel tank fill hose on Ketch 22. The original
developed a small leak that would slowly drip over time. Took me a
long time to find it because of course, the leak was in an area that
was damn near inaccessible. I found it by running my hand along the
length of hose until I found a wet spot. That was on a 39 however.
Perhaps the 32 is more accessible?
The fuel fill hose is remarkably expensive. I think it was a little
over a dollar an inch. Sold by the inch of course. When I found out
what it cost, I measured very carefully before I procured.
