Anyone have any experience with the Dinghy-Tow system? http://www.dinghy-tow.com/. It raises the stern of the inflatable
dinghy and tows it backwards with the bow dragging in the water a bit.
Looks fairly stable and secure.
No room on deck for my inflatable and I don’t like conventional
davits. What’re your thoughts?

Dinghy Tow,Tows real well in relatively smooth water. Not well for offshore work.Andre "Scaramanga "Lola Jackson <lolaltd@…> wrote: Sure looks good to me? The price is around $1,395. It consists of some stainless brackets,
extensions, clamps, and a bunch of blocks and line. Seems a bit
steep but simple enough.

I bought it and installed it. Had lots of problems with it-think I used it right, but the dingy flipped over when I tried to lower it and broke the brackets. Without the backstay to guide it down, I had a problem keeping it even and straight while lowering it. I sent it back much to the dismay of the company and got a restocking fee and high postage for it to go to Canada. I’m glad not to have it anymore. They do have a picture on their website of a Freedom32 with one on it I believe. My experience wasn’t a good one.

I have one on my Freedom Pilothouse 39 schooner. I’m going to try using
it on my 10 ft Portabote (the nifty folding dinghy) that I currently
store on deck like a surfboard when it’s unfolded and I have short hops
to make… I’ll let you know how it goes.

I now own the Freedom 32 in that picture. It was installed by PO#1. PO#2 had removed it to do some transom work and never reinstalled it. I have it in my basement. I did not hear any stories about troubles with it, though. At this point I doubt I will put it back on. Any interest?
Mike
